About Barons du Froid
Our Story
2014

Frédérick Goulet, owner of the company Monsieur Glace, wanted to meet the growing demand for refrigerated storage during events. He pitched the idea of launching an equipment rental company with three of his friends.
Each of the four shareholders invested $2,500 to purchase their first mobile cold room. That’s how Les Barons du Froid was born, cohabiting in the premises of Monsieur Glace.
2015

The four Barons traveled to Las Vegas for a convention on food-grade ice, where they signed an exclusive distribution agreement for Polar Temp equipment in Eastern Canada.
2016

Barons du Froid partnered with two more collaborators to expand its service offering. The opening of their first frozen warehouse in Chambly enabled high-volume cold storage at sub-zero temperatures. This instant success led to the construction of a second warehouse in Sainte-Brigide-d’Iberville.
Frédérick Goulet and Sébastien Proulx bought out the other two shareholders, and the company moved to Chambly along with Monsieur Glace.
2018

Codapex Technologies Inc., owned by engineers Sébastien Proulx and Catherine Laforte, acquired 100% of Barons du Froid. The company relocated to Richelieu.
With the acquisition of ten refrigerated trailers from Location D.G., Barons du Froid established a loyal customer base in the Quebec City area and opened an official service center there. They also acquired refrigerated trailers from Location Lemieux in Montreal’s North Shore, further expanding their reach.
2019

Barons du Froid expanded into equipment sales, while continuing its rental services. The company began offering mobile cold rooms and custom refrigerated trailers for sale.
2021

Barons du Froid obtained its RBQ license and expanded into cold room construction for the food and agricultural industries. That same year, they signed an agreement with Pizza Salvatore to build cold rooms for all future restaurant locations—over a hundred restaurants to be delivered within a few years.
2024

The acquisition of mobile kitchens and dishwashing stations expanded the rental services. These institutional-grade units can support meal preparation for up to 2,000 meals per day. The company also reached Western Canada through its first contract in Alberta.
Barons Architectural was launched to enter the building envelope market, tackling larger-scale projects such as refrigerated warehouses and food processing rooms.
2025

Barons du Froid moved into its brand-new headquarters in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. This new facility supports increased production of mobile cold rooms and refrigerated trailers, while optimizing construction operations. Several new products were introduced, including cold rooms for hunters and equipment for farmers and livestock producers.
